To configure your NetProtection router, you must follow these steps:
Step 1: Hardware Connection
The first step is to connect your NetProtection router to your modem. To do this, follow these steps:
- Turn off your modem.
- Connect your NetProtection's WAN port to your modem's LAN port with an Ethernet cable (image A).
- Connect your computer to one of the LAN ports on NetProtection with an Ethernet cable (images B and C).
- Turn on your modem and wait a minute.
- Plug the power adapter into the NetProtection POWER jack and the other end into a standard electrical outlet.
- Wait for the NetProtection operating system to load fully. When the equipment is ready for use, the "Sys" led stop flashing and remain lit. It may take up to 2 minutes.
Step 2: Setup Wizard
To start using your router safely, you must follow the three steps of the Setup Wizard.
On the computer you have connected to NetProtection, go to http://192.168.1.1 on your web browser (Setup Wizard page).
Note: For correct settings, the computer must be connected to the NetProtection LAN port.
2.1) Internet Connection (WAN)
For setting up internet connection, the wizard offers a list of the most common protocol types.
Check with your internet service provider if you do not have the necessary data to set up your connection.
Connection Protocols
- DHCP (eg, NetVirtua, Live Tim, GVT, etc.) - In this protocol, you must provide a name to identify your router. For simplicity, you can use the name NetProtection.
- ADSL PPPoE (eg, Some versions of Speedy, Hi Velox, etc.) - This protocol requires you to provide your username and password. If you do not have this information, ask for it from your internet service provider.
- Fixed IP (IPV4) - In this configuration, you must provide your IP address, mask, router (gateway), and DNS server addresses. If you do not have this information, ask your internet service provider.
- Note: If your provider's protocol is not available in this list, skip this step, and after setting the Wi-Fi and router password, go to Network -> Interfaces -> WAN menu and have access to all available protocol types. (PPP, PPTP, PPPoATM, UMTS / GPRS / EV-DO, or L2TP).
2.2) Wireless network
In this step, you have to configure the parameters of your Wi-Fi network.
- Wi-Fi Network Name (ESSID): Set the name of your Wi-Fi.
- Security: For added security your Wi-Fi connection should be WPA2-PSK.
- Key: Set your Wi-Fi password. For security reasons, we recommend that the password be at least 10 characters long.
2.3) Password router
In this step, you must set the password to access the router configuration panel. For security reasons, we recommend creating a password of at least 8 characters.
After completing the Configuration Wizard, you are directed to the router configuration panel:
- Configure Router: Opens the router configuration panel.
- Activate Your License: Registers NetProtection Web Filter License.
Step 3: License Activation
Click 'Activate Your License'.
Click 'Register'.
- Enter the email registered to access the 'Remote Administration System'.
- Enter the license you received after the purchase process.
- Confirm the information and click 'Continue'.
- Enter your name.
- Enter the password (to access the Remote Administration System).
- Enter the verification code sent to your email.
- Click 'Register'.
After this activation process, your NetProtection is ready to control internet access for all computers and devices connected to your network.
From now on, your account is active, and the management portal manages devices.
