Enabling QoS

Enable QoS on the WAN Interface, and set the desired maximum download and upload speed for all NetProtection equipment.

Creating rules

Create classification rules for traffic, which are applied sequentially. Each connection is compared to each rule and until one rule fits. When this occurs, the connection subjected to priority level defined in the target field. For priority traffic, use the target “Priority.” For low priority, traffic, use the “Low” target.

Rule Fields

  • Target: The priority to connections that fit the rule.
  • Source host: Source IP of the connection: Therefore, to control a computer on the internal network is necessary to give a static IP or register a unique IP in the DHCP server.
  • Destination Host: Destination IP of the connection.
  • Protocol: Connection Protocol
  • Ports: Destination ports of the connection. Separate the doors with comma.
  • The number of bytes: Number of bytes that must pass through the connection before the rule is applied. It serves to lower the priority of large data transfers and downloads.
  • Comment: A text to name the rule.

Please note: To apply the new QoS settings, be sure to click the "Save and Apply" button at the bottom of the configuration page.
